Engine Rebuilds
This question is more for everyone who has had their motor rebuilt by a shop...
How much did you pay for a complete rebuild of your motor? And if you remember, what work was done to it?

I can't believe no one had any feedback on this one.. Lol, wow 2007.. Well, I would like to know this one.. I'm going to be in the same boat.. Kit cost about 1200 for everything.. Just the rebuild itself. I'm in an apartment so it's not like I can easily do this myself. It's all about the shop for me....

Haha, yeah... I was pretty shocked too but if I remember we didn't have nearly the amount of traffic then that this site has now. But please people, chime in if you have any input good or bad about having a shop rebuild your engine.
(FYI, I ended up swapping in a JDM 7MGE on the Supra I had then)

Probably didn’t get an answer since most people rebuild it themselves rather than pay. I think if your going to own a 20plus year old car you should learn to work on it yourself or go broke. Also as far as a rebuild goes price is dependent on the parts you buy and the extent of the machine work which can get pricey.

I'd have said something as my motor was rebuilt by a shop, but before i bought the car with bhg (long story short they missed the blown heater core, gasket blew on first runup and owner scarpered!)
the engine has had a rebore, pistons/rings, mains & big ends, oil pump, water pump, belts, tensioner, recon. Head etc, the full works and i believe the guy owed the shop around 3 grand UK money when he vanished. I dont know if he paid anything off before that but i'd imagine that was just labour and the parts could easily have been another 3k with the head. Imo youre best doing as much as possible yourself, otherwise you really need to ask whether you dont just want to do a jz or similar swap or buy another car that runs well.
