Cool Heater Core Outlet Hose - need help

I bought my 88 GTE supra partially disassembled after a head gasket replacement. Bolted everything up, replaced a broken coolant sensor and she started right up and runs like a clock. But after it warmed up I had a coolant leak near the firewall. Turns out the heater core outlet hose is just hanging unconnected so that when the heater servo kicks in coolant goes all over the place..

Can someone explain where the heater core outlet hose connects to?

It connects to the water bypass pipe that is not accessible unless the upper intake manifold and EGR valve is off the engine. Even with those off it still is a pain in the ass to get to.

My buddy and I were looking at it yesterday and We found the bypass pipe you are refering to. One side of the return pipe is blocked off and the other is where the heater core return hose connects to. The problem is that the block off is towards the driver's side and the open pipe is on the passenger side. Is it possible to have the water bypass pipe bolted to the head backwards?

Oh shit sorry, you my friend have a JDM motor. Not something I'd be proud of but thats another story.

You can either A. Bypass the heater core by connecting a hose to the water by pass pipe directly to the heater fitting on the top of the head way at the back near the firewall. Or B. Swap water by pass pipes from a USDM 7M. <--- Not exactly fun.

Yes, the guy I bought the car from swaped in a JDM motor at some point. How about if I extend the heater hose and loop it around so it connects on the passenger side inlet? Sounds easier than swaping out the bypass pipe. Will it work?

Yes it will work, but will look ugly and you must keep it from coming near any part of the exhaust.

Thanks, that's what I wanted to hear. Ugly is not a big problem. Nothing few pink zipties can't fix.

BTW what's wrong with JDM engines? Mine runs like a clock, no CEL. The only problem was the person doing the swap. Are they underpowered or something?
