ok i have a question

i am going to be taking 2 7mgte engines out of my cars. one im gonna be racing. then one im gonna be rebuilding i dont wanna spend the kinda money on both but i do wanna do it right. im gonna replace the racing engine with a hks hg and arp hbs but on the other one im gonna leave the stock head bolts. what kinda gasket do you guys think i should go with because the hks is like 100 and something bucks. and what tourque has some of you guys gone with????

please let me know ill be starting this project in about a month after i get my honda's engine replaced. so i can have a daily driver

dont reuse the headbolts. if you dont wanna buy two sets of arp's then atleast get a set of oem's. the arp's will say what to torque to, i think its something around 80 or maybe higher, and the oem's will suggest like 56 but we all know thats bs. if you get a metal hg make sure the block surface is smoothed enough, i dont the number off the top of my head but im sure with a lil searching it can be found. if the block surface isnt smooth enough, the mhg wont seal right and will result in a bhg.

what are you planning to do with the non racing one?

A "new" stock hg & headbolts last fine up to 300 odd whp and the only reason this particular engine blew it's hg was from the detonation. So as long as it's bolted down to 72 for stockie or 80-85 for arp (as said, it'll be written somewhere in the instructions) The engines are all good.

Oh yea, as said above, make sure you get the block & head smoothed to the correct RA
I managed to get mine down to 17 RA which is really quite good so i won't have sealing issues :)
