Thermostat
Hi i was working on the timing of my car and replacing water temp sensors when i noticed i was missing the thermostat but now i am wondering what is the thermostat's purpose and do i realy need it?

The thermostat uses the temperature of the coolant on the engine side to decide how far to open, its a valve. The more coolant it flows, the more goes through the radiator=the cooler the engine runs. For everything to work properly you NEED a thermostat, you will get weird issues with gas mileage and things like that without a thermostat, its possible to overheat without a thermostat because coolant travels through the radiatior so fast that it doesnt have time to cool. Install a thermostat.
