If you use the oil pump and pan from your old engine it should then fit, before I bought my car, it had a JDM 7M-GE put in it and I can only assume they ran into the same problem, The engine wont matter if its pre/post 89 because a engine is an engine, its the wiring that wont work, I see you know that but it can't hurt in clarification.
From my knowledge and someone correct me if I'm wrong, there was no JDM MKIII Supra that came NA, the NA 7M came from another JDM car, I can't remember witch but if the pan an pump are diffrent then just use your old parts, but I would just spend a little money and get a new oil pump for a 7M-GTE.
