Ok so I have this 88 supra, its not that pretty and its not a turbo but I love it and plan to continue to do whatever I need to so that i can get it together and build it right.
A couple weeks ago my head gasket went and the drive train had 180K miles on it. SO I figured I would just swap out the engine and do the tranny while I was at it with JDM. I ordered the engine and it is obviously a later model year than 88. I just got a call from my mechanic saying its the wrong engine and wont fit because of the oil pump location and the pan will not allow it to fit. Now I know that any 7mge should swap and I went and got the casting number before they started just to verify it was a 7mge. So whats the deal? Do I just need to swap my old oil pump and pan? I know the wiring harness is different in late models but the engine itself should work fine right?
