83 to 86.5 engine swap
I was looking for a cheap project to keep me busy this winter. I came across a rust free, straight 86.5 Supra with a blown motor. This guy also has a 83 Celica Supra with a good motor and trans. Will the 83 bolt into the 86.5? the 86.5 is a NA motor.

isnt the swap suppose to go the other way?
as in putting a 7m series motor, into older year supras cuz i know that the 7mgte can be easily fitted into an mk2 supra |
Should go the other way, but I can have both cars for $200. Might as well do it this way because it's so cheap. So, will the 83 motor bolt into the 86.5? Any threads you guys know of that swap from 86.5 to 83? I would be able to tell how much fab work needs to be done.

I don't think you will find much information on that, because most people don't want to put in a 2.8l ~170hp engine in a car that came with a 3.0l ~200hp engine stock. So I would think that you could make it bolt up with a little custom motor mounts if they don't line up, but why?
How blown up is the 86.5s' engine? |
No thread on the 7m mk2 swap
Cuz it was on older guy that did it, and it was at least 5 yearss ago |
Thanks guys for commenting. I guess I'll pass on the deal. The 86.5 has a hole in the block. Pretty screwed. It really too bad, the body is totally rust free and straight as a string.
