Default No Power-steering Help Please!!!!

Hi guys, ive a 1990 turbo supra. The steering got very heavy on it recently but when i give it a good hard rev it lightens again. Do i need a new steering rack or is there some valve i can change?? can somebody help before my arms get pulled off! Thanks.

Check the pump belt, the belt on my car actually flipped over but didn't pop off and when at idol the steering became very stiff because the belt was slipping.

Check the vacume line that runs to the pump, it should go from the acordian hose down to the pump. Besieds that I wouldnt know what it could be, hope this helps.

The two vacuum lines at the p.s. pump are suppose to idle the engine up slightly while turning and stopped, if those are not connected, or the valve on the pump is bad, it will still turn, just a little harder at idle. It sounds like your problem is bigger.
I'm thinking it could be the pressure relief valve on the pump, but usually if that sicks, you get no power steering, or the speed sensitive steering valve on the rack. That could be stuck in the high speed setting which lowers your power assist.

Check this if you have Progressive Power Steering:
