IMO, whenever you get a used motor you should rebuild it, whether it be JDM or not. People will tell you either way, so like I said it's just my opinion. You're probably better off rebuilding your current 7MGTE with the popular MHG and ARP stud/bolt upgrade to help reduce the risk of BHG's in the future. If you do the rebuild yourself, make sure you inspect everything and replace anything in question, as well as the usual stuff (gaskets, bearings, piston rings, etc.). If you take it to a shop, make sure they'll do the same for you and make sure it's a reputable shop. Don't want to get your motor rebuilt just to have it blow.
