Hello, my 1989 7mgte motor has 212,000 thousand miles on it.
There is nothing wrong wit it, but during races im scared to push it. wat rpm do u guys recommend that is safe? i have only push it almost to 4 and a half rpm. iam holding back ? or iam pushing too much for this old engine. the hg has been replace wit aluminum hg. oh yeah, i was thinking bout if i should rebuild my motor, or buy a lower mile one? if i rebuild how much iam looking at? plz excuse the newb questions that i ask, and going to ask in the future. my half brother only given this to me 3 weeks ago, and im new to cars in general. any advice would be great. thxs |

theres really no way to determine an engine condition based on the mileage, if its been properly maintained it could be like new. I dont think wear is so much dependant on rpm as it is on load.

i have a N/A '92 supra and i push it too 7000rpm mine HG has been replaced, engine was retorqued, new venom injectors, old intake was replaced with a new one. all sensors was replaced with new ones, costed me no more then $1000 and engine is running great.
This does not mean you should do the same. you can let a mechanic chek the engine out and see what he recommends doing with the engine like running compression test etc... chek out if the turbo needs an upgrade or new intercooler.... |
