BOV Pros and Cons
I know that our Mk3's are MAF cars, so as soon as air passes through the MAF, it's accounted for by the ECU. Are there any adverse effects of blowing off that metered air? Obviously it should make the car run richer when you shift, as it's already dialed up that fuel, but I can't imagine that unless you're on it, it'll make a difference. And even then, it should burn off almost immediately, right? I've also heard there's a way to swap from MAF to speed density...does anyone know anything about that?
Thanks, Collin |
have not heard anything about switching it to speed density.
Most people say they dont have any problems venting to the atmosphere, personally i am just going to get a HKS SSQV and by the recirculation kit for like 12 bucks for it. |
Where are you finding the recirculating kit for $12? HKS' website says $39.
My friend that works at the local speed shop says that if I get an Apex'i SAFC (preferably a Neo), he can tune decel. enrichment (or lack there of) so that the metered air doesn't matter anymore. I actually did have a problem with mine when I pulled the recirc. tube off, though. My car would stall every once in a while because I'd get on it and then push the clutch in to let it idle at a light or something and it'd flood. - Collin |
