Electric Fan Controller Temp. question
since the fan shroud of my '92 supra was broken and couldn find any replacement i decided to go get 2 Hayden 3690 electric fan for my car. i got a new radiator and the fans fitted nicely on it, afterwards i went and got a Hayden Thermostatic Electric Radiator Fan Controller for the fans.
The controller can be set between 160F - 230F. My question is at what temp should i set it? |

I just set my electric fans up to the factory switch on the thermostat housing. If you want the temps that it uses to turn on and off, check the repair manual under the air conditioning section, under system operation it will give you the temps used to turn on and off the fans. I'm thinking of getting some pics and doing a writeup on how to use the factory switch and relays to control aftermarket fans.

Actually its kinda hard to find if youre not familiar with the factory repair manual and the ewd. This is the page of the ewd that has the temps:
http://http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra...x?S=Main&P=145 They turn on at 212°F, and off at 203°F. The 212°C is a misprint.

The temps on the page say "on" at 212°F, and "off" at 203°F.
It doesn't matter what engine you have, just that the only supra that had the electric fan from the factory was the auto tranny turbo car. (Engine coolant temp fan.) The 104-140° is for a different water temp sensor, I think it has something to do with the heater. I just can't figure out exactly what. Ray.

isnt that a little bit to hot, ive been working on cummins engines which are big v16 twin turbo engines with 1800hp at 1800rpm they are not to go higher then 2000rpm and they cant get hotter then 194F otherwise its ECU does a emergency shutdown on the engine.....
at those on the page the water would be almost boiling at that temp.... |
