I've owned two MK3's, both of which the speedometer didnt work at all. I checked out the fuses, but I suck when it comes to wiring. Anyone else have this problem and could spare some advice?
Thanks, Chris |
Also, the gauge lighting is non-existant. Brand new fuses as well, I think my whole guage clusters wiring is just out of wack.

What year? My '89 Speedo uses a cable.

check by your left knee (assuming you have a left hand driver) there is an adjustable dial for the gauge lights "a dimmer" it might be turned off
i'm assuming you have a digital dash the way your talking, supra girl would the one too talk to for that, i remember one of her posts had something to do with a digital dash fic. If its not digital let us know, well go from there.
I've tried the dimmer, and no my dash isn't digital. The speedometer needle is just dead, and the nighttime lighting for the dash doesn't work.
you might have just gotten two supras with broken speedo cables, or shot gearing at the end of the cable where it attaches into the trans housing.
what's your guess on the price to get that fixed, or would it be an easy fix to do myself?
Let me know too....same problem haha. It seems to be a very common problem in Supras. I have every common problem, leaking power steering ,no speedo, failed emmisions, Dome lights dont work....etc. haha.

the speedo cable is more than likely to blame. mine went out like a month ago. let me know about how much it will cost... as for the lights, id check to make sure the wiring is hooked up then id check the bulbs themselves.
