NA to JDM turbo
Hello all I am a total noob to supras. I just purchased an NA with a blown engine for $300. I'm playing on doing the typical NA to T swap and am planning on buying a JDM motor. 86-92 JDM 7MGTE 3.0L TURBO SUPRA COMPLETE ENGINE LONGBLOCK JDM TOYOTA SUPRA 3.0L ENGINE 7MGTE TURBO SUPRA [7MGTE] - $1,050.00 : got-jdm.com, JDM Imported Engines, Performance Auto Parts at Wholesale Prices
I was wondering what EXACTLY would I need OTHER then what comes with the longblock shown here? Any links would be helpful. I also read someone on here bought a JDM block and had to purchase the wiring harness for a US model from toyota.... How much is that? |

Buried in this forum is all the answers, dig deeper, also look at the trsm. If you gonna drive it like my grandma, you can probably get away without changing the gearbox and diff.

The you may as well find the cheapest pos jdm engine you can because it has to be rebuilt before you can install it and begin trusting it.
To skip this is almost certain death and a deeper more vast money pit. Last edited by supramacist; 02-05-2008 at 03:37 PM. |

then what about this? eBay Motors: Rebuilt Toyota Turbo Supra Engine 7MGTE Cressida 7MGET (item 320213002477 end time Feb-07-08 18:46:11 PST)
Only problem with this is I'm doing an NA/T swap. How much extra money am I looking at for all the motor accessories, turbo, manifold, etc. etc. |

Yea, supramacist is absolutely correct, if you don't rebuild it, it may work for a while, but the inevitable will happen.

The pistons are different between the n/a and the turbo, don't think that you can just bolt a turbo on and it will be good.
