Question Targa Top Question

Hi

New member here. We've owned our 1990 since 1992 and we love her - it's actually the wife's car.

Trying to replace the gaskets on the targa top and the ones that go down the side of the door frame.

Any hints/how to's for the targa top gasket replacements? The Clymer manual doesn't help much, and I'm having one hell of a time trying to get the old ones off, let alone the new ones back on...

I suspect that some of the side trim might come off the top - but how? Is it glued?

Any help much appreciated.

Here is a diagram:

Check the following pages too.
I took one off when I parted my '88 targa and I don't remember any glue.
There are snap clips and screws though.

Unhappy Still having problems

Thanks Tony, but the diagram didn't do much to help, and I paged through numerous pages of the online manual. I have to wonder if it is necessary to remove the front roof brackets, mounting bolts, spring then the headliner. The issue I have seems to be removing the vinyl pieces on each side that seem to engage the roof side mouldings. I've removed the screws in the roof side weatherstrip ends and the roof side mouldings, but nothing seems to be coming free. I've had to cut away most of the roof side weatherstrip with a razor knife.

Anyone replaced their roof side weatherstrips? I guess an auto body shop is always an option, but I like to do things myself as much as possible...
