gota love supras 02-17-2008 08:11 PM

mkiiisupra 02-17-2008 08:25 PM

gota love supras 02-17-2008 08:49 PM

well i cant start the car cuz the gas tank fell off anyone know where to find gas tank straps?

gota love supras 02-17-2008 08:50 PM

i think it has to be somthing more than just a bent or broken valve or even a bhg cuz it has no power at all i cant get passed 10 mph

Mark's MKII 02-17-2008 09:27 PM

Even with one cylinder down you should be able to go faster than that. Have you checked your timing or timing belt?

gota love supras 02-18-2008 12:35 AM

well the car is not mine yet but they are asking 400 body is in very good con. other than a few surface rust spots. the interior is also very good. he said its just the motor has problems he said he took it to a shop and one cyl. has low compression they said the know the symtoms of a bhg and that was not the prob they said the engine was toast so... not sure cuz i cant look at it but what you guys think?

h8z2luze 02-18-2008 03:19 AM

I think your getting into a lot of money lol.

gota love supras 02-18-2008 08:29 PM

yea it might be but also it might be just the timing is way off or bhg how long and how much did it cost to do your hg

CyFi6 02-18-2008 09:25 PM

engine hardly works and gas tank is fallin off, doesnt sound like a great investment to me. Plan for the worst.

Agreed! If you want a Supra keep looking....there are good deals to be had, just not this one.

gota love supras 02-19-2008 09:22 PM

i understand it might be some work but like you guys think supras are the best and supras are scarce here in akron ohio i almost bought a 91 with a bhg for 500 but this one is much cleaner. i also im machanicly inclined i have built and worked on many cars and it being a supra i feel its worth giving it a try.i mean at worst i may have to get a jdm or used engine to drop in. but that is a worst case sen. if i can fix it and the car is very clean so it would be worth it. any other opinions would be great i need them

CyFi6 02-20-2008 12:58 AM

just make sure you have enough money! Thats usually the limiting factor most of the time. Good luck though, im sure its better than im imagining. get some pics!

supramacist 02-20-2008 02:38 AM

It's a POS. Save your 400 bucks and keep looking.
Don't be an idiot.

supramacist 02-20-2008 02:44 AM

Ya I read further and you clearly have no clue as to what you are getting yourself into.

I rebuilt the top end of my 91. I gave 3k for her and I have over 10k in her and I'm not done yet.

If you mechanic like you spell, get a honda.

All JDM anything has to be rebuilt. They aren't plug and play.

Again. get a honda. You're in over your head and you aren't knowledgable enough to know it.

gota love supras 02-20-2008 04:31 AM

hey thanks for the concern and i know i cant type or spell that good but thats not the point. and yes i do know what im doing when it comes to cars its i just have only seen the car once, and im just going off what the crapy shop guy told me and what the owner told me. i will have to get some pics and spen more time with the car before i can know what is going on with it.

supramacist 02-20-2008 07:02 PM

Here's what's going on with it.

You have 2 seedy guys buy your own discription.
Selling a car that is barely running if any at all.

You have no way of knowing or determining on the spot any thing past a band aid.

It's got multiple things wrong and when you mess with one you switch the others and you end up at a dog and pony show with your pud in your hand thinking, I guess I'll throw more money at it and replace every damn thing cause it's a piece o shite.

I apologize for my remarks about your spelling.

This car. You have to start with the ABSOLUTE BEST that you can find.

This car you're looking at has owners upon owners of headaches attached to it. You have no choice if you buy it. And you want it to run right.

You have to rebuild the entire thing from the block up.

You could spend 6 months researching parts and still be inconclusive.
You can throw money at parts and all it will get you is out in the garage smoking tweed to cd's while you work on your whip.

No corner can be cut that won't bite you in the a$$ later.
No expense can be spared. And then the time it takes if you do it yourself to save money to be able to get the quality parts.

You're looking at spending 5k upon purchase of the thing. And you don't even know it.

Save your 400$ and keep LOOKING.

That being said.

You get what you pay for and good luck.

h8z2luze 02-21-2008 07:58 PM

I got mine for 900 and im still working on it lol that was 2 years ago. I finally said screw it and the block is in the machine shop getting everything new and bored over 20 lol.
