Need help with coolant leak near vsv(?)
Please bear with my ignorance in terminology. But I found a website that was linked in another post that shows the part that needs to be replaced toyota Supra pictures heater issue If you look at the second photo from the top, it is the piece that has the arrow draw on it, with an inlet outlet for the coolant. Basically, the inlet piece snapped. I wanted to know what this piece is called and I can bypass it until I can find a replacement. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Its called the heater coolant control valve or something close to that. (water control valve for the heater). You can bypass it, but your heater will always be hot which will hurt your a/c efficiency. Here is the link for the part number: (left hand drive).

I think I may just bypass it for the time being. As far as a/c efficiency, that shouldn't be a problem, as my a/c doesn't work. But is there any chance it may damage my heater core? Thanks for the help.

No damage, as the coolant always flows thru the core EXCEPT when the auto temp is set to 65*.
By pass can be done, and then forget about it and move on to other more important repairs. |
Ok. Thank you both for the help.
