variations and questions 7mgte internals

does anyone know if there are any variations for any of the clearances or other specs inside the 7mgte engine over the years. i have a 91 but i am borrowing a toyota manual from a friend for an 88. i read that there was some kind of alteration to the turbo over the years but i wasnt sure if that was all.

also i couldnt find ring to cylinder wall clearences but maybe i wasnt looking hard enough.

the manual also says nothing about shaving the head it simply says replace if warped past spec. ive read about many people shaving there head and i really dont wanna know how much a new head costs. opinions on this subject?

the machinest i talked to says he dosnt use shims anymore, he explained to me how he adjusts the valves but i cant remember as it was a while ago, i will ask him again about this. he does all of the machine work for the toyota dealership here if that makes any difference. should i just order shims and do the valves myself? i might do this anyways for the cost but am still curious as to the different methods used.

i will also be adding pictures of the car and engine as i go through this process so everyone can have a look

thanks everyone in advance and timely responses are appreciated as i will be tearing the engine down over the next couple of days.

You need to purchase a tsrm
toyota supra repair manual.

Once you see pics of what all goes into a valve job I think you will decide against doing it yourself.

i already have a tsrm if you read my post. i cannot do all of the valve job myself as i do not have the proper equipment, i was reffering more to the valve adjustment. i might not have stated my question in the best way, i was asking about the use of shims as my machinest says he no longer uses them even though the tsrm calls for them.
sorry for any confusion
