Weird noise from rear

when i finally pulled my supra outta the garage, where it had been sitting for about a year. I noticed a new noise. Its hard to describe but its kind of a light grinding noise but its loud, basically all the time. it sounds like its coming from the rear, maybe the differental? I've been driving it like this for about 4 months. it has no impact on performance or driveability, its just an annoying sound. Its gotten to the point where i tune it out and dont really hear it till somebody asks me "what the hell is that!". i havent really done any checking cause its like 10 degrees outside and the garage is now occupied with another project. any ideas? thanks
