I just bought a 87 supra turbo, giving the known head gasket problems I decided to replace it. When I removed the turbo my nightmare came true, the turbo has a small crack, along with hairline cracks around the internal wastgate exhaust port (common problem). My question is can I change the single wastegate exhaust housing with a little bit later model dual wastegate exhaust housing also changing manifold and down pipe to fit six bolt pattern. Any ideas you all have would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

i'm guessing you are talking about the ct26 which is on the celica and mr2?
twin entry exhaust housing rather than our single entry?

it's quite complicated to do all that... i would just look around for a 2nd hand turbo that is maybe naffed.. and score the exhaust housing and replace yours

good luck with it

thanks for the reply, I had another idea, I was thinking about taking the housing to a good machine shop having the wastegate port grinded down to remove the hairline cracks and rebiult back to the origional size, dont know if this is possable, the turbo hits normal boost but i bought a turboxs blow off valve and a turboxs boost control,I dont want to install the boost control with a cracked wastgate port. thanks.....

i have the same small cracks on my gate...been that way for years . at the stage my car is at right now it isn't an issue for me . you see the cracks on my website

ok, cool the only reason i am ouestioning it is i also have an alltrac (st165) and that turbo also has a crack, but much worse, that alltrac runs like crap but its cool cuz im rebuilding that car with many mods :)
so you think its cool to run a boost control running around 10 psi. with out hammering the turbo to much??

thats what the turbo was made to do ..the trick is going to be getting you car to accept 10 lb all the time .
currently with fuel cut off i can get about 10 ish pounds depends on the weather and the position of the sun and moon ( the turbo will produce much more but toyota says nope party's over)
if you have the engine apart surface the head and block for a metal head gasket

thanks for the info, I already have a metal head gasket and ARP head bolts i didnt think i needed to deck the block, and i was going to do the head, lol its in the trunk of my maxama waiting to be done. I will see about the block, hey thanks for the advice. by the way that cool your in eugene, im in grants pass. thanks :)

you might want to give turbonetics a call, they might have a few left in stock. they used to replace and rebuild those units to upgrade, but stopped a few months back.
