When i start the car cold, it starts like a champ. Runs great, idles good, when cold idles at 1,200rpm when warm 700rpm. The only problem i'm having is after it's been running and i let it cool down then shut if off if i go to start it 15 minutes later it'll start then die, start then die, start than die, no matter what gas i give. Eventually i can keep it running by flooring the gas and it has a horrible misfire that clears up when i rev it high. I already change the spark plugs and wires. Runs really good otherwise.
Any help? |

I have issue with hot starts also, along with many others, although mine is not as bad as yours. From what i have read, the fuel in the rail gets so hot that it turns into vapor, and when you restart the car you are spraying out little liquid fuel.
My question is, is our fuel rail losing pressure when we turn the car off? There is supposed to be a good amount of pressure in the rail to keep fuel from boiling and doing this. Someone else needs to chime in. |

Maybe it's time for you 2 hip cats to upgrade to walbro fuel pumps if you haven't already.

From what CY said it's not a fuel pressure problem when the car is running, its after the car turns off and has been sitting for 15-30 minutes.

If it was a design flaw it would happen to specific makes and models.
Kind of like the head gasket crap. Something has to be losing pressure if this is an issue. The 1st place I would look??? The injector grommets. If they are hard and brittle. And they probably are. They're under 10$ at the dealership. Last edited by supramacist; 03-18-2008 at 02:28 AM. |

the injector o-rings dont contain pressurized fuel pressure.
