thanks guys, that's really helpfull. I'm also wanting to build the engine while it's apart. what would you suggest to do if I want to jack the boost up to about 25 with a new turbo. I'm wanting to put atleast 450 whp. so give me some advise.

if your getting a new turbo, 25 psi is WAY overkill. mid teens is whatll get you 450 whp, give or take some. look into the rebuilt ct26-57 trim turbos.

assuming its a manual...make sure the headgasket is replaced with a MHG and arp studs, torqued to about 75/80 ftlbs, make sure the engine has no problems whatsoever, 3" exhaust from the turbo back, intake, boost controller. personally id put in a new intercooler and pipes just to ease up the work the turbo has to do, but its not exactly necessary. drop in the 57 trim, tune with your tuning equipment of choice, and there you go. and a new clutch, youll probably need it.
