Default Transmission threads are bored out.

On the oil pan

Dont know how to explain it but basically i can just slide the screw into the hole. Never ran into this before so not sure what to do. I guess someone in the past over torqued it and striped it out >.<

Any ideas ?

Could it be a hole for the "dowel pin" on the transmission to help lining the holes up?

naw, leaking tranny fluid slowly from that section of pan....

Mechanic says i need to remove pan, thus draining about 40 dollars in oil >.< then heli coil it...

Question is how hard is it to heli coil it?? what tools are needed?
I was hoping they would be able to do it with the pan on. but i guess not.

So ill prolly do it myself so i can save the tranny fluid

essentially you drill it out - thread it - and screw in the proper sized helicoil. I think you can get a kit for the size you need.

First off make sure you know how to do it and dont drill too far or something. And i see no reason why you cant do it with the pan on. All youre doing is drilling and threading.

Thats what i thought, anyways no idea what i am doing lol.

But i imagine drilling a hole cant be that hard. Also pretty sure the bits for helicoil are blunt on the tip so you dont drill any deeper than whats there already

something that helps also, put a nail or something narrow in the hole before you start and use that to measure how deep it is, then wrap a piece of tape around your drill bit at that length so you know how far you can go when drilling.

Just like that
