Im glad to see at least one person on my side. Thanks for the advice supdboy.

Please allow me to clarify.
I'm not trying to give anyone a hard time. I'm trying to light a fire under your ass to get involved with your car. I am passionate about supra. My comment for you to learn about your car along with the rest of us was simply an invite hoping to get you to spend more time here in the forum. Any forum. It doesn't matter how old you are. This is my 1st supra it's my 1st project car. It doesn't matter what you know about domestic mechanicing. Because these cars are a breed all in their own. I have owned my car for a little bit over 2 years. I drove it 3k miles changed the oil and the hg blew in another 500 miles. You have to research so that you atleast know the discrepencies in the tsrm or you're just hurting yourself and your car. I know I seem to be just a prick. The fact of the matter is. I am retired Marine Corp. And this is how I motivate. I'm sorry it came off such as it did. You didn't know important things you need to know before you even tear into the car to replace the hg. It messes me up to see guys that have been in this community as long as myself that haven't done the homework. You can't skip it. It has to be done or you're just digging a hole. And your car won't last if you are relying souly on forums for help. Because it's just like spud says. Everyone has opinions on things and you as the question asker has to be able to read between the lines to get your car fixed. Another reason I am so adamant about research is because I had a guy a while back at another forum. He didn't know he was even dealing with a turbo. HE thought the turbo was a fluid resevoir. I don't want anyone making those types of mistakes. I will say that I am sorry for coming across such as I did. When I mess up I'll say it. One thing I will not do is give you bogus information. I don't post on every thread. I only post what I have been through with my car. Now. I don't know about you cats. But my supra is a smart ass trickster. I fix 1 thing and 2 new things break. My frustration in dealing with my own ride comes through in my posts at times. Again I'm sorry it came out the way it did. |
No offense taken supramacist. I'm GLAD you apologized about coming off like a prick, as my respect for you has grown a little bit for that.
As far as me doing my homework, i do. I use these forms as a last resort to my problems. I can see you coming off as a prick if i asked every single and stupid question here about my car. But I DON'T. With all that being said, I ended up figuring out my stud problem. The head is sitting on the block torqued down to 85ft/lbs with a new Fel-pro head gasket in between. Now I have to put everything back together :) |
I'm curious as to why you chose felpro?
|
I heard good things about Fel-Pro. Why do you ask?
|
Felpro, stone, OEM, all good choices for a stock replacement.
|
Well actually the real reason was not my choice. My car had the headgasket changed about a year and a half ago. just a couple weeks ago i started to see signs of a BHG. i told the guy who replaced it and he called up felpro and wanted a refund. So felpro gave me a headgasket, and a head kit for no charge.

Great Thread
Ok Guys I have posted a lot in other threads I am about to conclude that my car has a Blown Head gasket. Not sure I want to attempt a repair in my driveway or want to put any more time or money into this NA 86.5
It sat for 6 years cause I couldn't get the starter on it. Finally I got the starter replaced it started sounded fine, then blew some steam quite a bit but only after I started up a hill on it's first ride, and burned out the lubricating oil I had put in the cylinders and then stopped and cleared thought the steam was fromcondensation in the exhaust and such. When it died it was running rough, had clear exhaust maybe a little smoke or none and had no overheating. Took it for a 2 mile drive at low speeds and it just died! I have spark, I have fuel, I have to take a compression test now. Which means taking the plenum off. Does any one have any clue as to what might be wrong? Could a bad throttle sensor stop the car from running? I got a code I think that said 41 and 51. I turned the key off and tried to get the codes again but it just stayed on no flashing at all. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Scott |
