no start!

I got my 89 manual together today and it won't start. it will crank and crank, if I put the throttle about half, I get a stumble, but it wont fire off. I'm getting power to the injectors, spark to the plugs. I also jumped the battery to fp in the diagnostic port, I heard the noise, had someone do that while I listened in the tank and heard the whrrrrrrrr of the pump so thats working also. I'm running out of ideas here, please help! since I just got it together, the distributor is loose, so I can time it once I start it, just in case that helps

With the amount of things you keep posting about being disconnected (including coolant hoses :eek3:) are you positive you should be starting the car at all at this point?

When you installed the distributoe and timing belt did you make sure EVERYTHING was set to their 0? timing marker? It is possibly to put in the distributor with the rotor off by 180?. If everything else is at 0? the rotor should be in position to fire cyl 1.

I made sure number 1 was on compression, got it to tdc and dropped the distributor in pointing at number 1

So this is an N/A? Test the FC contact on the AFM.... hell, make sure the AFM is plugged in. If those both pan out fine jumper the fuel pump in the diagnostic box to see if the fuel pump starts up.

what is fc, I assume afm is air flow meter, yeah its plugged in

FC is a switch inside the N/A's VAF. It's an emergency fuel cut out. If the flap in the meter closes while the ignition is on the fuel pump will loose power. So, if the meter is unplugged or the air flow meter is not connected to the intake no fuel pump. To test the FC switch you just need to test pins 1 and 2 on the AFM for continuity when you manually move the flap and ∞ when the flap is closed. MK3 TSRM On-Line
