Dude, I'm far from perfect.
I thought you were a diehard N/A guy supramacist?? Kinda like mr nickle boy. I'm not trying to be right, I just like to spread facts. Like about the burping crap. It's a waste of time and effort. I'd rather just sit back have a beer or a smoke and let her do her thing. Patience is a virtue. Because if she doesn't do her thing, something is wrong. And I am NOT talking down to you or doubting your skills!!! Why do people assume THIS?! The sooner the retorque, the better. I wouldn't wait that long. Couldn't agree more. I've had my system drained once every few months for one thing or another and NEVER had to "burp the system". Besides, it's hard getting the car to stand on it's hind legs and I have yet to see a jack that goes as high as everyone says you need.

Don't get me wrong. I dig my n/a lilke a grave.
But if I'm going to go through this mess again. It's going to involve a turbo. Now I don't get what you guys are saying....., it's always been a burp deal to the best of my knowledge. I'm going with what I knew for how I had to operate on the car when I acquired it. She was sick. Maybe I need a neww mind set. Is the waterfall a symptom of bhg? Because I haven't heard it since my build. I had a brain fart about the coolant overflow. I just remember how anal you were about things back in the day when you were a regular here. You and cre are grasping an entire different bar than I am. But I'm reaching. I'm sorry if I ruffled your feathers. I'm sure it has to do with my contankerous whore of a supra. It's good to see you back HH. Hence my other post. |

The "waterfall" is a symptom of a BHG.... SOMETIMES.
The ONLY thing it indicates 100% is that there is air in the coolant system. Whether the air is present due to boiling, loss of coolant or the introduction of exhaust gases to the coolant system is the real question. |

I can dig that.
I just need a better way that burping to ensure my personal security in the low coolant light staying off. |

i haven't been following the thread , but i gather that there's been a metal head gasket used ?
i assume you have checked for leaks loss of water happens in one of two ways it leaks away it burns away once you see the "bird cage" and keep having to fill. it's only one thing , you're loosing water so if that light comes on this week again you're screwed

In so many words, ddmcse is correct. So is cre, dead on correct.
If you ruffled my feathers, I wouldn't bother to post in your threads. Last edited by IHateHacks; 04-23-2008 at 09:15 PM. |

Thanks but I'm not having any type of over heating.
No signs of any of that. It's running perfectly. I just forgot to add some fluid the overflow reservoir. It'll start, run, and drive after I get it back together. It just won't stop idling so darn high. Different thread though. I have this thread under control gents. Thanks kindly. |

I know you want to see this thread die, so just hear me out one last time.
Rule of thumb I LIVE by: If you open up your cooling system, you are allowed only 1 birdcage light. If it comes on AGAIN later that week, (2 weeks, a month or even a YEAR, yes a year should go by and the light should NEVER come on, like me), Then, like ddmcse said, you are screwed hardcore style. |

I gotcha. I flushed it last night and haven't topped it off yet.
After I last topped it all of and added fluid to the res. No light. I'll keep you posted after I top it off again tonight. |
