Low Coolant light yet again.
Hello. This damn thing won't shut off and I've burped her blue.
Is there a sensor? It flickers off and on through turns and stays on the rest of the time. I keep checking fluids and jacking it up. No bubbles. Push on hoses, nothing. All fluid levels are the same as I left them when I re-check. Nothing going into the over flow. I'm perplexed. Thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated. |

I keep coming back to that.
I'm thinking that there is supposed to be some fluid in there to shut it off. But I'm not sure. That was a conversation from a ways back. |

Problem solved. I put some fluid into the overflow and that shut it off.
Ya ya. It's my turn to wear the sign. Last edited by supramacist; 04-21-2008 at 12:36 AM. |

IIRC, the overflow (actually a reservoir, not quite the same thing, but whatever) is supposed to be filled to the "Full" mark when the engine is at operating temp, and between Full and Low at when cool.
MK3 TSRM On-Line You may feel free to overfill the reservoir if you're burping the system or unsure if you've got a leak and want a little security. After a hard drive the reservoir will purge the excess and level out right about where it needs to be. This is the best way I've found to burp the system with little effort although, you'll be nervous about the green puddle under the car for a little while. |

Leaks don't surprise me.
I'd be more concerned about the belts. I'd remove the heater core but I think I like the thought of warmth in the winter. We'll see how she holds up and what I'm actually driving by then. |

Hey, didn't you go with a MHG?
If the coolant overflow reservoir goes low every week or 2 and you know it's not leaking on the ground...... |

I laugh when people jack the car up, put it on ramps, park on a gnarly hill to quote unquote burp the system. The people who do that have a BHG and are in denial. |

Thanks for the advice. I'm quite sure I haven't blown this gasket just yet.
It's running tighter than a nun at mass on sunday. Besides I just need it to run long enough to find a 7m-gte front clip and ecu and do the swap when this ge dies. I'm pretty confident in the integrity of my build even though you don't seem to be. And that's cool. I'll get some pics up after the back glass is installed. I burp the system with the nose up because It's the best way I know how man. I'm sorry I'm not up to your level of perfection. I get what cre's saying about purging as it does naturally. But I'm not running my roller like that just yet. I have to put the 1k miles on to retorque. Hopfully, HH You're wrong this time. Last edited by supramacist; 04-22-2008 at 10:45 PM. |
