check engine light trouble
i keep getting these codes:24-intake air temperature signal, 31-airflow meter signal, 51-air conditioner switch or neutral start switch signal, and 52-knock sensor signal. please give me as much info about all of these as possible.
I have an 89 supra turbo with 89,000 miles mostly stock. the only problem i know of is a hole in my turbo inlet hose, which i don't know if that would contribute to any of these codes. |

Well, with the 24 and 31 it's either a bad KVAF or a short in the wiring harness.
The code 51, as stated in the TSRM, is often caused by someone hitting the throttle while the car is in the diagnostic mode or the A/C running at that time... less common is the possibility of a bad IDL switch in the TPS, bad switch in the A/C circuit or a fault in the wiring harness. Knock codes come up for one of three reasons: knock, bad sensors or bad wiring... No, the air leak shouldn't cause any of those codes. See what I started with all of this 51 noise.
I should start a religion. Or a cult. Where can we all get the exact same pair of nike's???? |

i very carefully cleaned the MAF, and the two intake codes haven't come back, but i still keep getting the knock and a/c switch one. how would i pinpoint which problem it is with the knock sensor?

^^^Yup, pricey...
Start with the rewire... search around there are a number of write ups about doing it on our cars on the net. It's not the worst job and 95% of the time the wiring is the problem. |
