tail light

Okay, I have a odd problem with my passenger side taillight/brake light on my new '88 turbo. When I have the headlights on, the taillight comes on and works fine. When I hit the brakes with the lights off, the brake light comes on like normal. Heres the weird part- if my headlights are on and I push my brake, that passenger light goes out altogether, totally dark. When I take my foot off the brake, the taillight comes back on normally.

Anyone have any Ideas?

Also, my alarm functions fine, but when I hit my horn, nothing happens. I heard that they have separate horns, is this true? I have replaced my horn fuse to no avail as well. When I hit the horn button, I can hear what sounds like a relay clicking in the dash or maybe under the hood, but no beep.

I need to get this thing inspected, so any ideas would be most helpful.

The horn for the alarm is on the drivers side firewall by the cruise control and the horn for the steering wheel for honking is under the hood latch. Check the plug on id and make sure the ground is good, if its a new car for you maybe the horn has been modded.
Check the bulbs and make sure the right ones are installed before going further.

Use the TSRM electrical section to trace the horn circuit. I believe there is a relay. Perhaps that is what you hear click.

Thanks for the replies, Ill go check it out sometime today and let you know.

I'm thinking my horn may just be disconnected, the car has a MASSIVE intercooler installed, and during that install apparently the PO removed the coolant overflow bottle and plugged its hose with a bolt

of course i went to pick-n-pull and got a replacement, but ill have to check the connections around that area.

well, i checked the horn connections, and sure enough, the harness was just hanging there. because the horns were gone. I hate the PO of my car lol...

anyway, i didnt have a key fob thing for the alarm, and hated setting it off accidentally and rushing to pull the battery, so i pulled out my alarm horn and hooked it up to the main horn harness. problem solved for now, at least im that much closer to passing inspection.

as for the lights, theyre still acting oddly. the bulbs are just fine, i tried putting brand new ones in, still no go. Does anyone think that the "lamp failure sensor" could have anything to do with it? i found it on the rear light harness, and its obviously 21 years old lol

Lol i just got finished writing this for someone else, so ill give you the short version:

Mine did the same ended up re-wiring it all and works fine now, check out this if it helps, its pretty much exactly what I did and it worked.
