Hello and welcome.
I have a 91 n/a as your luck would have it. The water pump runs on the alternator belt. It's not bad. Let's say 1 to 10. Maybe a 2. Why do you think you need a new water pump? If I may ask. |

The water pump shucking could be a sign of larger issues abound.
Glad to help. |

Yes........many sellers tell people the problem with the engine is a pump, or thermostat, or radiator, which they all may be bad.........but the real problem is the BHG.
And......every 7m motor in the world will have a BHG at some point in time. Unless the car is really cheap, like $500, I would never buy one that I could not take for a test drive for about 30 minutes to see how things are. And for other people, I tell them to have their mechanic look over the entire car and estimate all the repairs it will need so you can drive it every day.

Ya it's a trap.
If you haven't researched deeply into this make and model your novice eyes can't see as they should. Mine couldn't and this is the 3rd summer of my build. She's finally running and sounding strong. Even though I have done all that I can. I am sure the car is nowhere near the original stock rating of 200hp. But is significantly stronger. I'm not looking for hp #'s anyhow. Just a fun car to drive. You aren't the 1st and you aren't the last. |
