87 na wiring harness..
i'm buying an 87 na this or next week. it has no rust on body and about 50k on engine and trans.. the only catch is who ever had it before my friend removed the cd player/sterio and left wires open, which lead to part of the harness shorting out..the current owner had bought another harness but it's a "right hand drive" harness..is it that much of a hassle to use the Rhd harness or am i better off looking for another Lhd harness??

RHD harness on an LHD is like turning the engine backwards and wiring it with the stock harness.
I would start testing out both harness's. Then If I had to I would canabalize the RHD harness to make one working LHD harness. A new "used" harness is going to cost you close to a grand. You didn't see any rust??? Look in the spare tire well. Under the spare see if there's any rust there. Look all around the back hatch window gaskets and look for signs of leaking. MK3 TSRM On-Line Read through this to aid in your automotive selection. You'll either have a good mechanic or you'll become one with this car. These cars come stock with all kinds of issues. I am willing to bet that the radio and janky wiring harness would be the extreme beginning of yours. Lots of supras' in NJ. Welcome to the forum. |

yeah i might have to..he boguth it when he was in highschool and his father went to get it inspected, it passed, until the ride home...the car just died and it never started again after that. i'm only paying $600 for it so it's not a life threatening deal i just always wanted one and it's in my price range, i got the garage, tools, and lift in my garage i just need the money to make it work..and i'm a beggining mechanic and i could use the expirience while i'm at it..
