Default Is there an easy way to detect an engine rebuild

Or a headgasket replacement, without actually taking anything apart? Maybe just a sign or two?
Buying a supra that has had 2 owners, the 2nd one does not know if the first owner fixed the headgasket, but the current one has good compression and is not blown, just wondering...

Thanks

EDIT: 1988 N/A

Kinda real hard to tell seeing as it is really squished in between the head and the block right now. If you have good compression right now and you arent having over heating issues or seeing water in your oil. Then I wouldnt really worry about it. Only when you start to see problems then I would start getting all the parts together. Well there may be one way if they did replace it and did it the best way by adding ARP studs then you will see the nuts in the head bolt holes. If you see the allen head bolts then it may or may not have been changed because if the dealership does it they will replace it with the slock head bolts.
