i sold my old mustang and got a good amount of cash for it. my friend has a 1990 supra with the 1J in the engine wich he bought from some other guy. can you do the swap with no problem or are there many mods that have to be done with the car. i heard that the 1j has more hp and overall a better engine, is this right or should i go for a supra with the 7m? ppllleease help me out.. thanks

wicked are you able to get a hold of a supra that already has the 1j swap in it? that would be an awesome buy....
the swap has it's ups and downs lol... this might help... http://supraforums.com/forum/showthread.ph...&threadid=99912 the 1jz does have a 50hp headstart and is not prone to blowing head gaskets as 7m's are from the factory... once you get a metal head gasket and arps and prep the block and head surfaces properly you shouldn't have a problem... i believe they have quite equalish potential but the 1j gets there faster i think... i'm purely biased and go 7m power all the way lol... parts at the moment are quite easy to source for a 7mgte but 1j parts are still a pain to get.... really you need to decide on what you're looking for out of the engine what do you plan to do with it?

I on the other hand havent been that lucky at all.... i will most likely stick with the 7m until i get enough cash for a new engine aaand think it over. thanks for the tips

awesome
you'll get good hp out of it and with not much to spend i've spent a total of bout $2800usd including buying my car and modifying it and she's 278rwhp and does 13.5 on the dragstrip... so i think you'll be happy with it
