ive heard of this before, its usually your thrust washers and called crank walk. you push the clutch in, pushes the crankshaft forward and temporarily seizes the engine until you let the clutch out. do you have an aftermarket clutch on this? ive only heard of 7m's doing this with like a spec stage 3+ steven |

Ok for one 1JZ's are not notorious for crank walk that is the 4G63. It has a three piece thrust main bearing and it comes apart. Well for some background who did the 1JZ swap, have you checked the wiring to make sure it is correct. Also you can check, when you start to push the clutch in slowly, does it die instantly or does it start to slow then die as you get closer to fully depressed. If not then that rules out the crank walk thing just for shits and giggles. When you bought the car did the guy say it was ever running right? This would lead me to believe that he messed up the wiring when he did the swap and you will have a rewire headache ahead of you. There are some other things to check but check the things I have told you first and then get back to me with the result.
