Question Cooling system Oddity

I found a coolant leak in the back of the engine compartment near the block, and found that it was some sort of Cap that was clamped on with a hose clamp. It was old and had holes in it and I was wondering if this is Facory, or if someone just stuck it there because they took something off.

Talking

i'm assuming you have a non-turbo. my 87 non-turbo had the same thing. go to a dealership to get a new cap. the only problem is finding the part number. you've got to explain what it is your looking for and then scan thru the pics with the guy at the part counter. at least that what i had to do.

ok, well same thing i guess, on my 87 i had the same problem and i thought the same thing, that some idiot had capped something off, but i went to the dealership and got a replacement, so it is a stock part on the 87 at least.
