Transmission will not downshift
Hey everyone, I've been having a problem with my Supra with it refusing to downshift when the pedal is down to the floor. In my repair manual it says it is the kickdown cable, but offers no help on fixing it. Any ideas?

Your tranny kickdown cable should be relatively easy to adjust. In case you don't know what the cable is, it's the one that goes up to the throttle linkage from down below the car. When this cable is pulled completely, you should hear a "click" sound from the tranny. If the cable does not get extended to this point when you put the pedal to the floor, then you will need to adjust it.
If it's just slightly off you should be able to adjust the nuts on the cable enough to move it a little forward or back, whichever your car needs. Also, make sure that the bracket that holds the cable is at the proper angle, as this will throw it out of adjustment as well. You may also want to verify that your TPS is adjusted within specs per the TSRM. What I have stated may not be the correct way to fix it, but this is what I did when my tranny would not downshift when I would step on it.

Mine was doing that when i first bought it. I replaced the little yellow tranny computer box behind the pass side kick panel. Made it good as new.
