intro. little late lol
Hey everyone, im 19 and live in southern california, i own an 04 scion xb on spray, a 1960 ranchero with a 302 thats getting a 2jz swap (mwuhahaha) and now my 89 auto n/a supra. i love owrking on cars and usually will not let a mechanic anywhere near one. i already posted a topic about a ks code and sensor plug but i never introduced myself. About 4 months ago i picked myself up a 89 atuo n/a with a BHG (go figure) for 500 bucks. The clear is oxidized but thats no biggy for me, and the body is in perfect shape really, interior is clean and complete cept for 2 little rips. I tore the head off, got my hands on some ARP studs (not bolts, its what they had) an oem quality head gasket kit, and put her all back together at 80ft/lb and replaced little things here & their and finally got her running "ok" she doesnt like to start at first no matter what time of day, but once its been started once, it starts perfect every time, car doesnt pull for crap, but im sure now thats the KS code, and that the tranny needs to be cleaned out, feels almost like its slipping (auto ) and it shifts really hard into second everytime, its chirps tires lol. but on the way up to my dads shop in banning, my header melted a hole in the intake so that tiook awhile to find but its all good now and waiting for another app. for tranns. if you have any suggestions on my starting prob leme know. ill try to take more pics here soon.
when i first picked her up the BHG lol cameo pic of my xb lol Last edited by Scionguy; 08-28-2008 at 09:05 PM. Reason: more about myself haha, pics |

Check your codes. I had knock sensor and TPS codes on mine. After i fixed both of those and adjusted the timing it starts up right away....

Welcome. Where's the Ranchero Pic! I love those cars.. very very hard to find up here right now, but my father in-law is looking for either an old Ranchero or El Camino. He would probably like to see the pic.
I was gonna buy one with a lowstall torque converter about 20 years ago, but I couldnt keep the tires from spinning, so I opted out. : ) |

Go into further detail on your starting problem please.
Nice set of cars you got there, I could swear I saw that Ranchero on another forum. I like what you have done to your Scion, we don't see many tricked out like that here on the east coast. The most heavily modified Scion I know of around me is a Tc that has exhaust, lol. Was there anything wrong with the 302 in the Ranchero? Good luck!! |

That will usually fix your KS code total cost is about 20 bucks. Afterwards you will notice a huge diffrence from your car.
