Stock trubo question
How should the turbo behave if your car is back to stock condition? I rarely, if ever, spin it close to 8 PSI. However, hitting 4-6 is not a problem. Should, it readily drive all the way to 8 ?

you got it right on the nose. stock settings i think are somewhere between 4 and 6.5 or 7. i hit 8 once. ever. and that was really fun. haha. i usually am around 5.5 pounds just driving around.

Mine runs about the same, with one exception (or note). In second, the Turbo seems to kick in quicker that in 3rd or 4th. We wont go into what happens in 5th.. cause everything in that gear seems to be illegal.. lol.
I love the gear pattern in this car. |

So, just for kicks, what does it take to kick up the boost a bit (cost and parts) ?

Not sure if someone has a one-cost - final hp solution sitting, but I have found a ton of info just by searching boost within the forums. So far, I think the cheapest first step is the air intake system. I would also recommend a boost timer if you dont have one simply to help perserve your turbo for those times that you drive and dont want to babysit the car for a couple minutes after running the turbo to allow it to cool. Then, from what I have read so far, a person would do the exhaust system. I wont mention much here other than you want to go 3".. as I am still researching that. That seems to be a huge upgrade and not as expensive as I thought so far. And.. if you actually upgrade things to improve the boost, look at improving your intercooler as from what I can see.. the better you can cool it, the healthier you can be. Than there is boost control, waste gates, downpipes, all kinds of fun stuff I am researching. I have no idea what the final cost would be as have yet to get a really good understanding on each upgrade and why you would do it.. but I'm getting there. |
