Interested in KW V3 Coilovers for MKIII?
I know some people who work at KW Automotive, and although they have already made a coilover for the MKIV, they want to know if there are any MKIII owners who would be interested. Here are some links.
KW automotive North America Inc. Suspension -- Coilovers -- Shocks -- Springs KW automotive North America Inc. Suspension -- Coilovers -- Shocks -- Springs The ACR Viper was running with a KW suspension. KW automotive - KW I told them that I was definitely interested, but they said they need at least 7 more people to want it too. Serious replies! Last edited by Twilight; 09-17-2008 at 04:28 PM. |

How much for the pair? Interested, especially since I need to replace my stock set-up soon. But price is a solid question.

The price would be from 1.6k-1.9k, but I'm sure something could be worked out pricewise for those interested. The suspension is not sold in pairs, there's a coilover for each corner. Do you have any questions--about the product or what it does?

Well honestly, a stainless steel coil over system would be nice but there are few people out there that want to spend that much on a coil over system, when there are systems out for 1k.

so when you say 1.6 to 1.9k and coilover for each corner and are not in pairs.... do you mean per coilover? i mean these things must have to be completely amazing because there are systems cheaper. but more info would be nice.

A KW Variant 3 is a bit more than just a Stainless Steel coilover…
A basic break down of a V3 -Independently adjustable rebound and compression damping -"inox-line" stainless steel bodies -Infinitely adjustable rebound damping -14 level adjustable compression damping -Unique, independently functioning damping power adjustment -German TUV-tested adjustment parameters -Comprehensive documentation for ease of use -Lifetime Warranty During manufacturing of KW Coilover suspensions, the highest quality materials are used to produce individual suspension solutions that enable customers to adjust vehicle height according to their wishes and needs. Within the T?V-tested adjustment parameters, this can be easily achieved using the purple-colored aluminum spring collars by adjusting the position of the yellow coated springs upwards or downwards via a specially designed exterior thread. In doing so, the vehicle height can be precisely adjusted, and customers receive exactly the result they want and/or need. The stainless steel strut housings are fitted the specific vehicle. Rebound adjustment Variant 3 Rebound adjustment, with the exception of specified vehicles, can be performed with the kit installed via an adjustment spindle on the end of the piston rod. The rebound damping primarily, controls pitch and roll of the vehicle, especially in the low speed damping range which directly influences handling and comfort. Therefore vehicle can be adjusted to the needs of the driver, making the ride variable from comfortable to sporty and stiff, both with improved road handling. Compression adjustment Variant 3The compression characteristics are adjusted utilizing a new, patented valve at the lower end of the damper casing. The number of pre-installable parameters available for this valve allow for settings for just about any application required. The unique low-speed pressure adjustment is the decisive feature of this technology. In this absorption area the handling of the vehicle is greatly influenced. An increase in the damping force supports the vehicle even during compression, thereby preventing pitch, roll and notably improving cornering behavior. In association with independent adjustable rebound absorption the experienced driver has all the parameters required for effective suspension tuning. One of the many tools we use to engineer each Vehicle specific coilover system… In 2006 KW automotive established an ultra-modern hydraulic 7-post dyno test facility, which simulates off-track running conditions in the laboratory.Worldwide there are only 15 units of the hydraulic 7-post rig in use, generally used by Formula 1 race teams for research and development purposes. The teams spend considerable time setting up the suspension of their cars for individual circuits, using the 7-post rig. KW automotive is enabled to offer the opportunity of simulating track conditions in the lab as well as their expertise to interested race teams and industry partners. For them this will result in huge savings of time and money, as the need to transport race cars to the test-tracks has been reduced. This 7 Post Rig consists of seven hydraulic actuators with fluid accumulators and a control system sitting on a seismic mass about seven feet below the shop floor. Four posts are used to simulate road dynamics as the vehicle travels over a rough road, by generating forces at the tire contact patches using electro-hydraulic servo-actuators. They are also used to characterize the suspension by exciting the 4-wheel patches with either consistent oscillation tests or collected data. Three other actuators add forces to the car to simulate aerodynamic or weight transfer of the car under braking, acceleration and cornering that would be seen on the car at a track. This 7-Post Rig allows accurate race track replications as well as suspension optimization testing, thus providing KW automotive a technological advantage to assess and set-up new application developments. I can start on all our success in competition and testimonials from some of our customers but I don’t want to exhaust your patience, so here are the links if you like. Welcome to KW automotive North America Inc. Welcome to KW automotive North America Inc. -All our coilover systems are vehicle specific. We don’t have any universal fully threaded shock bodies or springs stiff enough to hold up a bus. J -The system is designed for comfort that rivals factory suspension but can be easily set up for the track. -Our designs are trusted by manufactures like Mazda, Mopar and many more. -All our kits do have a lifetime warranty! Although it will not cover any kisses from walls but we will be able to rebuild your kit in house without any problems. ---We do have a 1-4day turn around on all rebuilds because we don’t ship anything overseas to be rebuilt. If this is the type of technology you would like to have on your MKIII I would really like to know if you are interested and if you have any questions. Please post your comments/questions. |

No, it is not electronically controlled. I'm not sure why, so I'll ask and post an update tomorrow.
