This doesn't always happen, but sometimes when I'm driving my 87 NA a sweet smelling gasoline scent comes through my air vents. It happens both on city roads and highway driving. I don't notice any jolting from my engine before this happens. Could it be a spark plug problem?

This might be a dum question, but does that smell like fresh gas or exhaust, because it could be a exhaust leak blowing into your air vents coming from your exhaust manafold, that could be cracked, just for shits pull the heat plate of the top of the manafold and check for cracks, and maybe check fuel lines around the motor

have you check the charcoal cannister in the engine bay... it has vacuum pipes which go on them... make sure they haven't come off as they will send gas vapours into the cabin gl finding it

Thanks for the advice, I'mma try to check out as many as I can. And as for the smell, I think it's more like exhaust cause it's really nauseating and unusual...as opposed to gasoline which is a great scent that I probably could distinguish.

No...No...that's in the back !! Smell from a/c vents must be from front of car.....like suprragirl said, charcoal canister is main place to check. Fuel rail....fuel hoses... Find it...cause fire can ruin your day. Seen it 2x at a red light. And extinguishers make such a mess of the engine compartment. |
