Who knows how to get an access to the mirrro control unit? I'm having troubles with taking of this part of the center console apart....something is holding it near shifter handle... Thanks! 88supra 7MGE Last edited by Serge; 09-22-2008 at 04:25 AM. |

There should be a screw in the bottom of the coin compartment in front of the mirror controls. There are also two screws at the bottom back of the center console. Remove those three screw and the console lifts out. This is after you have removed the insert covering the shifter and AC controls. Once the console is removed, just unplug the electric lines running to the mirror controls. Just did this last night to clean mine up. It was sooooo nasty the square control would not even rock!!!!!

Every one I have ever taken off... two in total right now have just popped off. It takes a little wiggling as the top of the center panel is sort of hooked under the instrument cluster. Once you have it off, you need to unplug the hazard switch from it's cable to get the panel out. Then, I believe that there are two screws for the center console under the shifter console. Hope this helps you

I very carefully pulled the bottom off of the switch and promptly screwed everything up. When you take the bottom off of the switch do it upside down. There is a metal plate that I have no idea how it goes back into the switch. Once the bottom is off and the insides taken out, the rocker square pops out. I then just used soap and water and a soft toothbrush. There are four prongs that stick out on the bottom piece that you need to pry out. I was able to get three pried out and then worked the bottom piece out. The circut board, which is the bottom piece, I cleaned with windex and q-tips. If you get it apart and see how the metal piece fits in, let me know. I have one more switch, but I haven't pulled it apart yet.

I didn't take it apart....I just took a bottle of 96% alcohol and washed this switch in it for 3mins....it works now.
Best regards! |

Wish I'd thought of that! At least I have one more to use if I messed up the first. Glad to hear it is working now
