Starter
Actually it was a bitch but with help from this forum I was able to do it without removing anything but it was not easy. The starter is in but I let the car sit too long. I need to soak the cylinders. It barely turns over and is very stiff so I am going to put penetrating oil in the plug holes let it sit a few days and then work it loose with the crank bolt and a braking bar. The car sat for years with me planning to get to that starter but every time I tried I got so frustrated I nearly gave up. I finally have it on the road back. I think it will be OK hopefully once I get it lubed and freed a bit. It ran great when parked but had that bad starter. It actually turned a half or more revolution under starter power but I did not want to push my luck the positive terminal was getting hot. I need a spark plug wrench that will fit this thing, my standard doesn't do it. Anyone know what I need?

the spark plugs on the 7m are rather anoying.
but a plug wrench with a rubber ring in it to hold the plugs makes it a dream!!!

Hey Scott, sorry for taking so long to even notice this thread. I ended up junking my MkIII soon after I got it running. Fuel pump went, then I started have a bunch of electrical problems. Swapped the interior out for a mostly complete CT26 application. I also picked up an MX73(cressida) and a couple of Mk II supras as well. The drivetrain got saved(engine, tranny, driveshaft and diff), but most of the rest went away. So I hardly check this forum anymore. Sounds like you got the starter swapped out. One of the toughest things to do one these cars, besides the fuel filter. I will try to give you a call this afternoon or evening. We are having weather here today and I may be out chasing most of the day.
