Skipping ahead... when you get a car, there is a keycode.. that comes with them (at least I know every car I had 2000+ has had it.. even the '96) Its a tiny tin dogtag, usually stuck with the driver's manual... If not.. then the dealership can cut one from the VIN. And.. by the way, the old keys had different shapes.. one would do everything, one wouldnt do the hatch and glove compartment. If this is a MKIII, I believe you can get them copied but the key blank is usually a touch thicker than some kiosks carry. If your wanting the original, I am fairly certain the dealership can get one made. (then... before you actually do get one made.. check a locksmith. Sometimes they have solutions that are a lot cheaper)
