o2 sensor or not?
hi i have a 88 supra na been runnin fine without the o2 sensor for 6 months now and am about to put one in but not sure if i should or not. the car has a new set of headers with no spot for the o2 sensor and a downpipe so no cat. if i put one in it has to be a universal screw type so i can weld a fitting on. is their a way to get it to work without a o2 sensor? and not be rich or lean?

When I got my '88 N/A, it would not pass emissions. The HC and NOx numbers were too high. Found out it was an O2 sensor was not putting out any signal. While the sensor was bad, the car ran fine. No hesitation, and great pick-up. After the sensor was replaced, it passed emissions, but I could not tell any difference in performance. Still no hesitation, and great pick-up. But, I also picked-up 2 mpg.
The O2 sensor is required if you want to keep from running rich or lean. |

o2 sensor
ok so i guess i will try to replace it. it might take me a while though cause if i am im going to replace the headers and the downpipe so it fits better to the car.( the down pipe hangs really low, and headers have no port for o2 sensor) then i can put a factory o2 sensor in it.
