86 NA dies/idles low when turning the steering wheel
 

hope someone can help. I have a problem with my supra, it dies/idles down when you turn the steering wheel while sitting still. The wierd thing is that it only does it after it sits for about 10-15 min. after it acts up you can start it back up and its fine.

have replaced the idle control valve and the valve on the power steering pump.

one side note, if I leave the vacuum line coming from the intake manifold off of the valve on the power steering pump its fine. I have checked for blockage in the vacuum lines also.

Well if it works with the line unhooked, there's not many things it could be. For some reason that line isn't letting air into the valve, did you check the nipple on the intake piping for blockage?

so let me get this strait, you turn the wheel the car dies, you pull off the vac line from the pump to the intake piping and you turn the wheel, it doesn't die. Everything is clear. Theres no way that could be, there has to be some kind of restriction. Is the vac line connected ot the same stock nipple located after the MAF? Are you plugging the hole on the intake piping when you pulled off the vac line to test?

yes, when you turn the wheel the car either dies or idles way down and comes back.

I'm taking the hose that goes to the intake manifold, not the one that goes to the intake tube by the MAF. No I'm not plugging anything when I disconnect the vac. line

I cant figure this one out...............

Can you explain to me more clearly what you are doing to test for this? Which line is the problem? If you removed the line going to the intake manifold it wouldn't make sense that the car would idle up when you turn, it would just idle up period.

???? I'm not too sure I understand what your question is, but all I'm saying is when I remove the line coming off the valve on the PS pump the car does not die when the steering wheel is turned. When it is reconnected it will die when the steering wheel is turned.

There is two lines going to the valve. Which line? You are probably just making a vacuum leak which increases your idle speed at all times, therefore when you turn it has enough rpm already that it doesn't die out. In other words your valve isnt working properly for whatever reason.

I believe youre right about creating a vacuum leak, but I have a brand spankin new valve on the PS pump from toyota and still the same exact problem. Im wondering if the PS pump itself is the problem??????
