Default Ignition upgrade

I'm currently waiting patiently for my 7mgte engine to get here and wanted to upgrade the ignition system to an msd type one... I do understand msd is a company, but cannot find any specific info on upgrading for a 92 turbo... is there any other options for a multispark ignition without spending near $1000 bucks? Even pointing me to some info to read would be really appreciated. Thanks!

This will be difficult, because the 7M-GTE engine your spec-ing is a distributor-less coil-pak design. Most MSD products are for distributor-type ignitions or DIS-type ignitions for GMs and Fords. You could probably use thier product on a Toyota, but would need to do the engineering yourself. Basically matching up an MSD product to fit your application. They don't seem to have any Toyota-designed products.

The coil-pak design for the 7M-GTE uses a wasted spark system, meaning there are 3 coils, and they fire two spark plugs at a time. Any of the 4-channel DIS modules should be adaptable to the Toyota system by just enabling 3 channels and figuring out the wiring yourself. Get a TRSM and the manual for the DIS module you want to use, and see if your Toyota has the necessary inputs for the module, and the module has the required control feedback for the Toyota ECM.

Yeah man thanks alot. I was reading quite a bit more and found out I will have to do what you said... I have found Accel makes something similar but will have to pretty much wire everything myself. Since the swap is going to be a bit, it wont be right now, but definitely within the next month for sure and til then I will come up with the system and post my results. Any other info would be greatly appreciated.
