1JZ swap or 2JZ swap
Hello guys!
I'm a noob and i'm new to this so bare with me lol. I own a 1989 Toyota Supra N/A with a 7MGE. As some of us may know, I'm having problems with the heads due to the factory torque settings being wrong. So, my dad came accros a lexus with a 2JZGE in it (supposedly don't what model it is but it has a straight in-line 6, let me know if theirs any usdm cars that have a 1JZ other than the supra thanks) for free. Turns out one of his friends that own a body shop has had the car sitting there for 5 years and no one ever went to reclaim it. On top of that, the car has no papers so i can't really drive it. Anyway, here's my questions: 1. What can i do to change the 2JZGE into a 2JZGTE? Like, is it worth swaping just the heads or should i just buy a 2JZGTE? If so, can anyone tell me where i can find a USDM 2JZGTE with the Getrag 6-speed or at least with a 5-speed R154? I know its expensive but that doesn't matter i'll work for it lol. 2. Will i have to do any work on the firewall if im installing a 2JZGE? 3. Is it worth even installing the 2JZGE? cuz i know that if you don't turn on the engine every now and then, the engine gets messed up. 4. Would buying a 1JZGTE be better? Would all the components that the 7MGE work? For example, the brake pump, exhuast, power steering, etc..? 5. Finally, if theirs anyone who has done either a 2JZGTE, 1JZGTE, 2JZGE and/or converting a 2JZGE into a 2JZGTE, can i have some feed back? Like, all the troubles you've stumbled on, the expensess, etc..? Thank you and sorry for making you guys read so much. I greatly apprechiate it! |

Try SupraMania.com they will have alot more info on the 2Jz swap than here. It should be the same as the 1jz swap just with a bigger engine.
