please check my car domain page i have pictures posted at the bottom of the page of the wires i have a lead that they mite go to a knock sensor because i only have one hooked up and there was no plug for the other one but the clear wire in the picture i am not sure where it go's as for the link you gave me my wiring harness is an 87 so i am not sure the that site will work because of the differences in the years

Default narrowing the problem

not that anyone is helping me but i want to keep the updates coming. me and mechanical friend who helped me with this whole process tried to solve the problem of the no spark. here are the facts. the wires i was confused about on my car domain site the clear one is to a knock sensor because the turbos have 2 and i dont have any plugged in at the moment which i do not believe would have to do with me getting spark. the smaller ones i am still unsure of. the plug for the speed sensor that goes to the tranny is not plugged in because i have a w 58 and not an R154 so i have no place to attach the plug. hope fully this does not have anything to do with my car not running either. we tested the plugs that go directly into the coil packs and they are getting power to the coil packs. the car did pop a couple times but it was very rare and , not consistent at all, so this means there was some spark at very rare pionts in trying to start the car but we checked spark plugs 1 and 6 and they are getting no spark. I am 100 % positive the coil pack worked when i took it out of the other car 2 weeks ago. IF somone could explain to me how the cam positioning sensor works it would be very helpful SOmebody please help

As far as the knock sensors, the N/A only has one. The Turbo has two. I'm guessing you have the wrong wire harness, and it is not going to work well for you. Did the original engine use coil paks? My 7M-GE still has a distributor, and, therefor, needs a different ignition system to run coilpaks. You need to pull the ECM and wiring harness from the old car and transfer all of that to yours. A N/A ECM will not run a turbo engine well at all. I used to have a link to a proper N/A to turbo swap, and remember that all the N/A gear, including ECM, wiring harness, MAF sensor, et. al. needed to be swapped with it.

thank you for replying to my thread first off, and i did swap the wiring harness and ecm, and MAF, coil packs ignition , cam positioning sensor, intake, fuel rail with turbo injectors cam covers for the coil packs, everything that had to be swapped is swapped over off the other car. Right now i am leaning to maybe my timing is completly off but not sure because all we did was take the distrubuter out and put the cam positioning sensor in we did not alighn anything so i am going to try and see if it's the timing thanks again for replying
