whats more common? wrist pin,rod,or bearing noise?

as the title says... whats more common on these engines 7mge...

i have a light knocking noise under certain conditions (2200 rpms light load, up as far as ive gone 4000 rpm)... to me it sounds like a wrist pin...

is this unheard of?

whats common on these motors?

do you hear it at idle? Does it sound more like a double knock or is the speed of it consistent? You could also have valve noise. Theres really a lot of things that can make knocking noise including a cracked flexplate etc..

noise is not at idle... runs smooth, aside from the oem wires, which make it skip a lil...

noise is heard when cruising at a steady speed, with the rpms above 2k...
again light throttle crusing speed, its like a rattling sound.... if i gas on it gets a little louder and subsides shortly untill i get above 3k. then it gets more rapid the higher the rpms....

it does have the sound of a wrist pin, as in its maybe a double knock... but i hadnt heard of anything like that with these engines, just the crank bearings....

is this possible to have a bad wrist pin with 117k on the motor??

Anything is possible. Get a mechanical oil pressure tester gauge and check your oil pressure.(not the stock one)

i have one... im a mechanic... so i have an idea what im listening to... but i come from honda world.... this is my first toyota..... and what a f'n ride.... so much torque... its more like an american muscle car than an import

but yea.... oil pressure is good... at least its not super low

i was trolling craigslist and it seems that most of them on there have engine noises in the lower end.... can they not take the abuse?

The 7mge should last you many many miles, just depends on how it was previously maintained. Use a stethoscope to further narrow what the noise is. As i said it could be a multitude of things... Its not like the 7mge has a tendency to do any one thing. How it was treated in the past dictates what has happened now, there's nothing else to really say.
