i dont want to lower or raise the compression but want a mhg for future plans of more boost down the road and i am getting arp head bolts while im doing all this Thanks Alex |

if ur planning to do this properly you will be taking your head and block to a reconditioner anyhow... if you aren't sure if there has been work done to either previously get the shop to CC it and they should be able to tell you what gasket you need to keep stock compression
HKS gaskets are extremely good also i would use arp head studs.. for the extra 10 bucks why not

alright u said have the shop do a cc? what does that mean? they were going to pressure test it or something... the block has never been machined down this will be the first hg in it... i have all the recepts from the first owner they always took to dealer and the dealer was going to charge like $1000 - $1500 to do the head gasket thats why they sold it.... but its not blown completely yet since it dosent overheat and there dosent seem to be any water in the oil... antifreeze is just coming out the resevoir tank
i want to get this baby on the road asap... so would i be safe with just buying the 1.2mm hks mhg? k ill grab the studs do they work the same as bolts just bettter? Thanks alot suprra girl u really know this car whats the best and cheapest website to buy my parts that i will need? when i start to take stuff apart will i be able to get all the gaskets (not the hg but like valve cover etc..)needed at say autozone or napa? |

ok so it's a virgin engine... so get a 1.2mm hks gasket and arp head studs
you NEED to prep the head and block for a mhg will you be upping the power or just keeping it stock? if you are going for power.. prep head and block, mhg, arps do it properly or it will blow another hg if you are keeping it stockish... stock toyota head gasket will be fine just get new head bolts as well and you can get away with prepping the block, you still need to clean the block and make sure it's perfectly smooth.. take the head to the shop and get it checked for warpage or softness etc gl
